"The SPS Week Ahead" compiles a list of some of the events taking place throughout the district as well as some important reminders.



SHS Theatre Program's Fall Production

This coming weekend, the Stoughton High School Theatre program is presenting Hadestown! You can see this year's fall play at SHS at the following dates and times in the Stoughton High Auditorium:

  • Friday, November 15 at 7pm

  • Saturday, November 16 at 7pm

  • Sunday, November 17 at 4pm

Multicultural Night at the Gibbons School on Friday

The Gibbons School is hosting a multicultural night on Friday, November 15 from 6-7:30pm at the Gibbons (235 Morton St.). This event is open to all SPS families.

Winter Sports Registration

Winter sports registration is open for both Stoughton High and the O'Donnell Middle School. There is no cost to participate in sports at SHS or OMS.

The following winter sports are offered at the high school level: boys/girls basketball, boys/girls hockey, boys/girls swim, boys/girls indoor track and field, cheerleading, and wrestling.

The following winter sports are offered at the middle school level: boys/girls basketball and wrestling. There is also a winter OMS dance team.

SHS Winter Sports Meet the Coaches Night

Speaking of winter sports, there will be a Winter Sports Meet the Coaches Night at Stoughton High on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 6pm. High school students playing a winter sport and their parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. (Please note that winter cheerleading is meeting separately and will not be at this event.)



Parent Workshops

The Stoughton OASIS Coalition is offering a virtual parent workshop for families of middle school and high school students. This workshop, focusing on managing the emotions of tweens and teens, is being held via Zoom this Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Please note that registration is required (click here to register). The Stoughton OASIS Coalition is also offering a parenting workshop for families of preschool students at the Jones Early Childhood Center. There is a workshop on Tuesday, November 19 about managing challenging behaviors and one on Tuesday, December 10 about healthy bedtime routines. Both take place at the Jones from 5-7:30pm. Meetings This Week

School Committee - The Stoughton School Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 in the conference room at the SPS District Office, 31 Pierce St. The public portion of the meeting starts at 7pm. An agenda for the meeting can be found here.

Elementary Redistricting Committee Meeting - The Elementary Redistricting Committee will be meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 6pm in the conference room at the SPS District Office, 31 Pierce St. An agenda for the meeting can be found here.

* Please note that the Elementary School Building Committee meeting for Wednesday, November 13 has been canceled. We will share when the next meeting is scheduled.



Futsal Academy for Stoughton Students

Stoughton Public Schools students ages 5-17 have the opportunity to take part in a futsal academy at Stoughton High School Monday nights in November and December (starting November 18th). Futsal is a soccer-based game played indoors on a hard court. This is a great opportunity for students to work with a team of futsal and soccer coaches and accelerate their soccer skills.

ROPESS Multilingual Educator Opportunity

Stoughton Public Schools, through a partnership with the Brockton Public Schools, is participating in a Federal Consortium Grant that will allow selected Multilingual SPS educators with a background in education (paraprofessional, teacher, etc.) and selected Multilingual community members who hold a teaching or content degree here or in another country, the ability to take courses, take the ESL MTEL and achieve the Bilingual Endorsement through UMASS Lowell. The program will potentially result in educators attaining ESL licensure, the Bilingual Endorsement, and even perhaps a degree. The initial application is due on November 18th and if selected, the second phase of the application process will include an in-person interview for the program on December 14th.
